An 8,000 square foot exhibit hall displaying artifacts from the Smithsonian Institute and Lawrence Livermore Labs. The Smithsonian provides traveling exhibits in the gallery.

Through its interactive exhibits, educational programs and preservation of its collections, the museum strives to instill an understanding and appreciation of the world’s wildlife, ecosystems and cultures. One of the West’s largest exhibits of animated dinosaurs and excellent displays of plant and animal life in the Southwest with live specimens. The Marine Life Gallery has aquariums of fish, eels and even a 3,000 gallon live shark tank while the Snake Pit houses a pair of Burmese Pythons. The Wild Nevada Gallery includes plants and animals indigenous to Southern Nevada and the Mining Nevada has a large display of the minerals and rocks. Out of Africa displays feature rhinos, hippos, zebra, lion and cheetah among others and the Treasures of Egypt display artifacts in a 4,000 square foot exhibit.

Home to a rare piano collection, antiques, jewelry, customized autos and elaborate costumes from the entertainers private collections. Of particular interest are the harpsichord once played by Frederic Chopin and a Grand owned by George Gershwin.
On display is the piano-shaped ring made of 260 diamonds and other rhinestones weighing in at 115,000 carats or 50.6 pounds!

A state agency educational institution whose purpose is to advance the understanding of the history, pre-history and natural history of Nevada with emphasis on Southern Nevada. It collects, researches, exhibits, interprets and preserves Nevada heritage. On display are artifacts, flora and fauna, history and geology of Southern Nevada including a 15,000 to 20,000 year old resident, the Columbian Mammoth. More current is a photo exhibit highlighting the notable neon of Las Vegas and the history of the Flamingo hotel with founder, Bugsy Siegel.

The first permanent non-native settlers in the Las Vegas Valley were a group of Mormon missionaries who built an adobe fort along Las Vegas Creek in 1855. They successfully farmed the area by diverting water from the creek. Today, the park includes a remnant of the original adobe fort which serves as a visitor center with interpretive displays.

An exact replica of the tomb discovered by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922, the museum provides guests with the unique opportunity to peer into stone chambers including the treasury, burial chamber, annex and antechamber.

Featuring more than 300 artifacts as well as replicas from the famous ship, the exhibit displays passenger’s personal items, gaming chips, jewelry, ship tools, currency and dinnerware. However, it’s the Big Piece that really stands out, the piece of the ship’s hull weighing more than 15 tons and measuring more than 26 feet long. It took over 48 hours to bring it inside to the display area. Replicas include a piece of the main staircase, the promenade deck and sleeping quarters of first and third class sections.

Founded in 1969 the museums holdings include Pre-Columbian objects, Latin American, Mexican, Guatemalan, Bolivian and Navajo textiles, Hopi and Paiute basketry and Navajo jewelry representing the Southwestern Indian culture from early times to present. Geology, history and archeology of the area, live animals, fossils and traveling exhibits are also on display. The museum tells the story of the Boulder Dam Project. The three-dimensional and interactive displays and exhibits describe the great social and economical forces surrounding the 1929 Stock Market Crash and Depression that drove citizens to the isolation of the Nevada desert where men could find work…building the Dam, in 120 degree heat and all the dangers.

Built in 1935 by the National Park Service to exhibit artifacts that were being excavated from the Pueblo Grande near the site. These Anasazi Indian sites were being threatened by the waters of Lake Mead and the newly built Hoover Dam. Programs include the ongoing archaeological research on the remaining Lost City sites and changing exhibits.

Ride the original train tracks used to bring supplies to Hoover Dam as you listen to history about Boulder City, the town responsible for building the dam. Ride in an open air car or an enclosed 1911 Pullman coach. The ride is 7 miles round trip and takes 45 minutes to complete along the El Dorado Valley, past the McCullough and River Mountains and along diverse desert plant life.
